first duron was a 600. so no it wont work. More then likely some new ram will. Go to crucial.com and type in the name and model number of the compaq and they will give u memory that will work.

More then likely he has an atx case so get a new motherboard and chip instead.. you can use the ram too. only thing is he probably has a 230watt powersupply which will have to be swapped for a min. 250watt for a duron.
