Compaq Pressario Overclock/Upgrade....

My Brother In Law has one of these.
I think its an AMD550 so I am presuming a Duron???? They were the 550's weren't they.

Anyway, You can pick up a Duron800 here for US$50 now so I was wondering if it would slot in? Did they change the slot config etc.

What sort of info should I find out - aka chipset etc - to help in my inverstigations?
Maybe his chipset wont support any more grunt.

Also once when I was snooping around his system during a netmeeting session I think he had 56MB of RAM which I seem to recall is because the Compaq setup steals 8MB for the video card RAM...no?

Is this RAM proprietary or can he take advantage of the low RAM proces and get some SDRAm to add in. I guess its academic since compaq RAM is prollie cheap too...dont know...

I presume he wont have any mobo config options for overclocking...

So in a nut shell....
1. Possibility of upgrade to Duron800.
2. Any info required to make sure chipset/mobo will do 'da business.
3. Need Proprietary Compaq RAM?
4. Presumably - no overclocking on this @#$ker...
