I'm very confused. I am looking at entry to mid level computers and the processors are confusing me. There are basically 4 in the mix. AMD Sempron, AMD Athlon, Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4. I'm pretty sure the Pentium 4 is the highest grade of all those, so basically I'm wondering how is Celeron vs. Sempron, Celeron vs. Athlon, and Sempron vs. Athlon. This computer would be for me to run games that my currect computer will not run. Some of the games say they require AMD Athlon as a minimum.

When I see processor info, it usually lists a number such as 3500+ then a Ghz number. When I look on my current computer it displays for my Pentium 4

Pentium 4 (R)CPU 2.80Ghz RAM
1.84 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

What's the second GHz compared to the first?

Also, whats better 1 Gig of RAM or 1024 MB or are they the same?
