Over here 220 is actually just two 110 lines. Look in your breaker box, it'll be split down the middle with a 110 feed on the left and another on the right. The 3rd main wire coming into the box is neutral. A 220 breaker is really just two 110 breakers sandwiched together with one connected to the left feed and the other half connected to the right. If you examine the hot plate the breakers snap into you'll see what I mean.
