I've had this problem for a while and no matter what I do I can't seem to find a solution to it. It's the blue screen of death, and the message is: "IRQLW_driver_equal_or_less".
Now I think it indicates a conflict, and from troubleshooting my system I concluded that it has to do with my sound card, since when I disable it the problem stops. Please note that although right now I'm using the on-board C-Media, it also happened with my Platinum SB card, and at the same frequency. I've re-installed WinXP, and although it doesn't happen as often it still does at the most inopportune times. Another thing to note is that if I'm playing mp3s, and I dare open a IE browser, or show a visualization on the winmedia player, then the sound becomes garbled, and in the case of the browser it flatters in accordance with the movement of the mouse. The only thing I haven't done is re-set the BIOS by shorting the points on the mobo, yet. I have done the most recent driver updates and the same thing happened under Win2k with same message.
Here's my system:

A7M266-D mobo with dual +1700s,
Adaptec U160 SCSI card at No.2 64 bit slot,
512 megs of registered Infineon DDR RAM (one chip),
USB 2.0 card(provided with the Mobo) at No.1 64 bit slot,
3COM 3CR990-TX-97 nic card at the No.2 of 3 pci slots,
USR voice modem is removed for now, but with no improvement,
On-board C-media sound.

Sorry for the long post, but I would appreciate any input since I'm swamped. Thanks in advance.
