Do you have IRQ steering enabled ?
& or is ACPI steering enabled ?
it sounds like you have an IRQ conflict or your just out of IRQ's or your may even have all the hardware on one IQR location. Most of the time the video & sound cards needs there own IRQ & will give you the freezes like you are getting.
