Replace that hub with a switch, prefgerably a firewalled router/switch and it'll be fine. AFAIK, though you should be able to just grab a crossover cable, and stick your modem directly into an open port on the hub (or switch if you pick one up). But because it's a hub you'll only have a half duplex system. ie, traffic only goes in one direction at a time. Kinda not too good for gaming and the like. A witch runs in full duplex, just so you know. Ohh, and use DHCP on everything unless your ISP specifically says not to. |
