I don't think so, Rambus just announced 4 channel RDRAM with a 64 bit wide bus and running at 1066 MHz or 6.4 GB bandwidth in a strategic alliance with Samsung. Elpidia claims that by Q1 2001, they will run at 90% yield of 1066 MHz Rambus and Toshiba goes the same way. Add the 4i architecture that will significantly reduce costs and all of a sudden, there is a viable architecture that, on technical grounds could actually florish. |
