Keep in mind that what that option sets is the maximum amount of system memory that the video card can share via AGP DiME (Direct Memory Execute).
Graphics cards like the Voodoo 3/4/5 don't use it anyways, and most other graphics cards will rarely, if ever, touch it if they have at least 32MB of graphics memory.
