On a phylosophical note....
All tinkering inclinations aside....does o'clocking pay???...
You save $200 on your chip but you spend it on cooling, HP RAM exotic mobos etc - not to mention the headaches....
You get a 20-30% overclock if your lucky and at processor development rates of 75% speed increase each year (ergo price drop) that equates to you being 3-4 months ahead of the game for the same money.....
hmm.....makes you wonder.
Reason I ask is....
I normally buy my gear at just above wholesale...
I have tow options...
1. I can simply upgrade my BXMaster and PIII800 to a PIV1.4G in 6months and keep my generic PC133 RAM and all my peripherals.....
2. I can upgrade to an AXIA square but will also have to change my RAM so I could try to peak it at 1.3GHz (1.4GHz....if Im lucky). But the HP ram is going to cost me three quarters of the money I saved on not buying a 1.3GHz TB, and I have to pay an extra 30% upfront for my mobo.
Hmmm....Dreary normality is such a booring topic isnt it???....
AH..then there's the tinkering factor!!!!
comments appreciated....
