The way I see it Overclocking does pay off in the long run. As you only have to buy your cooling set up once. After that it travels from system to system. Besides, there's the danger value, and the whole possibility of getting something you didn't officially pay for.
Another note. Oclocking vid cards... They take NO effort, and the best you'll spend on cooling is a geForce ORB. so there's something easy to do.
