I think he's more concerned with compatibility. Win2K is definitely a more stable OS, but there's always that one older application that a user needs that for some reason just won't run on Win2K, but runs fine on Win9x/ME. That's why Win2K is not being pushed as a home user OS. That's also why I have stuck with Win9x for so long. It's a cranky piece of code, but I'm guaranteed to get any program written for it at any time running. But as time marches on, Win2K is getting patched so that it will run those troublesome apps just fine. You'll probably see the culmination of this effort as Whistler arrives.
