All things being even, I believe the 8800GT is a tad faster with the 9800 and ATI running neck n neck...being an ATI Fanboy since the 90's I would opt for that and love my Diamond 3870. I'm impressed with the ATI support and their constant updates...I'm not sure how well the Overclocking would be with any of the cards as I'm not onre gamer and jusy don't go for extreme/tweaks on that part of the System.
Depending on which games, NVidia would kick arse in some and ATI in others....I do like tha DDR4 on the ATI card and think more of Crossfire then SLI but that's just me...either way you can not go wrong!
