All of the settings in that 'tag' (System Properties => Advanced tag => Performance Options button => Advanced tag) are basically intended for certain types of server configurations. For a desktop machine, you should leave them in their default position.

The one exception is virtual memory. If you have somewhere between 512MB and 1024MB of disk space that you would like to permanantly allocate to virtual memory, change the virtual memory settings it so that you have a swap file with the SAME minimum and maximum size. This will give a slight performance increase, and noticeably decrease disk fragmentation over time.
