The Dell Poweredge 2450 the site is on has been generating various errors with respect to its RAID5 hardware for six months, and one of the drives failed last month, but the RAID kept going in impared state. When I put a "hot swap" drive in to do a rebuild it fried the drive slot I put it in, smoke and all. That's what I call a HOT SWAP.

I was moving files around to do some backup, and the server puked. Had to go down to the hosting facility do unplug reboot, and a scandisk to get her back up and running.

Project #1 for me is to get a replacement server as a stopgap installed asap. I got plenty of old hardware that will do until I get new hardware. The owner of the other sites on the server can't do it for a month or two.

I have space at the hosting facility for dedicated server for cpu-central, and its in the works thanks to LED.

Will keep you updated.

Dennis
