I am such a happy camper. Finally got time to
work on my Linux set up this afternoon. My modem
isn't dead, it was a Bios setting. I had to
disable the IRQ for ISA/legacy in order for the
modem to work on the serial port. So here I am
with my trusty "Zoom" external posting here
using SUSE9.0. WooHoo!

Alddo got the BIOS to identify an ATAPI CD-ROM,
which again was a setting in BIOS. I'm all
smiles. System is on "GO" all the way.
