My Grandson has decided to build a computer. He's 17
and a senior in High School. He's bought a case The "Dracula" one. He's a gamer and wants Half Life 2. He won't have unlimited funds to do this but I'm curious about maybe recommending he go with an Athlon 64 processor. The 2800+ is $141 retail from New Egg. Would that be better than a 2800+ Barton? Then Video cards, from what I can tell Half Life 2 isn't going to need what Doom 3 requires. I can get a fairly good buy on the Nvida FX5700LE or would a Radeon 9600PRO be a better buy for him? Both are around $125.00.

Also have a guy in Idaho that wants a new build and Andy. SO what do you guys recommend?
