And I highly doubt it will work "right" but it will work. If you short any black wire to the green wire in the middle of the ATX power connector to the mobo the PS will fire up, along with the rest of the PC. It sounds like your mobo has a problem in the power on circuit though. If so I'd RMA that puppy and try again.
