Well, I have it up and running and I already have several complaints.
First, there is no toolbar (like in WinTV) that has channel, tuner, and volume info. I miss that quite a bit. Next, you can only pick resolutions of 160x120, 320x240, 640x480, and full screen. I prefered 400x300 with WinTV but I can't pick that, so oh well
Lastly, when you install and go through the wizard, a directory is created in the partition with the most amount of free space which is then filled up with files. This is the card's way of reserving space for recording shows or timeshifting. In a few minutes I had a directory with over 12 GB of worthless files. I shut down the app, deleted the files, restarted and turned off timeshifting. It decided that it could get by with a directory of 5 GB of files. Ugh.
Recording a show is quite easy, but it doesn't have a built-in converter from Creative's format to MPG. You have to have a DVD player app. I have PowerDVD, but this is ridiculous. CL should have made that work out of the box.
Taping shows is quite easy to set up and it does a fine job, but I don't think I want this in my primary box. I plan on building a second PC in a month or so. I may keep it for that. Until then, I'm going to put the Hauppauge back in.
