The spinrite I recommend & linked to in my post before this one is the best program for removing bad clusters on a bad HD & that when I used scandisk that I had to run (loop) between 25 - 50 times on each cluster & I also had to do this often in the beginning after droping my HD a foot to foot & a half. All that fixing time & not catching all the bad clusters & scandisk also removes perfectly good clusters to. Spinrite run overnight will recover good clusters & remove the bad clusters or very soon to be bad. I have tested this myself.
