I found the proxy settings for the LAN, and it still didnt work, the connection shows up in the taskbar as a ethernet fast connection or whatever, but it has a bogus IP, like 169.stuff. and if I click on the repair button, then it sits for like 60 seconds, and says that it cant renew the IP address, but if I connect my machine direct to the cable modem, then I click repair, it finds a real IP, like 12.64.stuff really quickly, and I can then get online. I hope this extra info helps. Thanks for the help so far though guys.
