I had the same mobo and chip running 11*150 = 1650. I was using 2 256 MB sticks of Corsair XMS2400, but the Mushkin should do it, and Crucial has a good shot, too. If you're only running 1 DIMM then any of the 3 has a good shot.

However, depending on the errors you get, it might not be the RAM. Maxtor drives are notorious for intolerance to high PCI speeds, and the AK31 doesn't have a 1/5 PCI divider. At 143 bus your PCI is over 35 MHz. I use Western Digital drives and they have run perfectly at 150 bus (37.5 PCI).

Also, that idle temp sounds high. The 1700+ (not overclocked) I have on an Epox 8K7A+ is hitting 40 C under full load for hours. I've got the case linked below with an Alpha 8045 heatsink and Enermax 330W daul fan power supply. Inside are 2 of the adjustable speed Enermax 80 mm fans: 2 in the brackets at the back of the case, and 1 on the heatsink. I also cut a blowhole and counted a 120mm fan blowing into the AGP/CPU/northbridge area. All the fans are set at their minimum speeds to keep noise down.
