Sorry Dan I am a complete newbe to networking and I just saw the name gateway on a networking diagram which I thought resembled my setup.Mine is going internet line to modem to router to cat5 into my PCs.I strongly belive that its my protocol now.I will do more research berore posting my ignorance!
Thanks Dan youve given me a few areas to look into!
