More bandwidth doesn't gain a whole lot on the Athlon because DDR-SDRAM is already running at the same bandwidth as that of the processor.

The one advantage is that it provides extra overhead for the on-board graphics processor to operate in, if you are using it, so that the CPU and graphics processor don't have to attack each other's space.
