most likely is reading from HD (I stated writing) there. I stated that cause people like ces tried IDE raid 0 for video recording & failed dropped to many frames. Maybe that can be done cheaper later down the the road with newer interphases but not now.
Yes reading will increase but not by 100% like you think it should & the writing is slower then reading.
