I bought an ATI TV-wonder pro card so that I could watch and record tv. I have a few problems though that are really starting to annoy me:
1) When recording a show, I can pick between MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 compression (and some proprietary ATI thing). However, it seems that the mpeg is interleaved resulting is a vertically squished image when I use something like media player to view the file. On ATI's player it's fine, but I don't want to use it! Is there anyway to remove this interleaving and make it record normally?
2) If I chose to record in MPEG-2 format, things aren't any better... on the contrary. I can't even view the damn thing, even with ATI's file player! If I use virtual dub to open the video file (usually virtual dub never fails unless something is seriously wrong) it doesn't work either, giving me the error "MPEG import filter: pack synchronization error". What's happening?
This is really annoying! Is there anyway to get the video to save with a standard format that works!
Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks,
Hugh
