then, no. The problem is if the monitor is run at a frequency it cannot support. Old monitors would sometimes try to display the picture and do crazy things; newer monitors will usually shut off the picture and flash a warning signal on the power/sleep status light.

Leave it on the out-of-range setting too long....*zap*
