I had a quantum 6.4G that did the same stuff before.. and the other guys are right, back up right away.. my computer's HDD blew up (Literally! Smoke, sparks, the whole nine yards) about 2 days after that started.. The HDD suffered a head crash =[ (The read heads crashed into the platters) I'd highly recommend you replace it quickly, as it's possible to get HDD's dirt cheap nowadays, anyway.
