Newbie network question

I was thinking of setting up a network but as I'm a total network newbie I wasn't sure if http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?productid=104411 would do what I want. All I want to do is to be able to have 2+ PCs running off of my single cable modem without having to buy another IP. In addition I would like the ability to share files easily between the 2+ PCs. I already have an 'Etherfast' workgroup switch sitting in a box. Would I need to use this as well in my set up? The SMC router has a network print server. Does the printer need a special connection for that?
