All other scomponents being equal, the Celeron will be a better 3D gaming system (faster floating point performance) and the K6-2 will be a better office/Internet system (very fast integer core), although either one can be used either way -- the Celeron is still an okay office system and the K6-2 will game, seeing as you won't be able to convince either of these CPUs to run the newest and greatest 3D games with any amount of gumption.

On the other hand, if the Celeron is sitting on a late-model motherboard with Coppermine support, you *may* be able to move up to a PIII-1GHz with just a proc and a heatsink swap, whereas the K6-2 system would require a board and CPU upgrade.

But if this is a from-scratch project, nuts to both and start with a basic Duron system
