How long do you leave it on before this happens?

I had a friend who used to be able to get away with 20 days at a time on his particular Win98 machine. My Super7 system, running Win95 OSR2, could go at most a few days before strange things would occur. I can usually leave my Athlon system running WinMe on for a few days without a reboot. If your system goes a couple days or more before this happens, then like Ben suggested it is probably normal.

But if the system poops after only a few hours, possibly the OS is on its way out, or you may have an application somewhere with a memory leak -- meaning the application is dying, or it was poorly coded.

Another very likely possibility is a virus
