Sounds like you had a bad connection on one of the CPU pins.
If you really do not want to upgrade (flash) the
bios then do what I did set the jumpers on the MoBo instead, find the jumper to set jumper only
mode. Follow the MoBo manual carefully. Just before you start jumper only mode you may want to restore CMOS setup to the default speed & CPU voltage incase you need to get the MoBo going
again incase of trouble.
Beware the manual has one error on page 18 it
states "The example below below shows all the
switches in the off position" in the example the
switches are all on.
