re-boot your computer and as it is booting up when it says "Starting Windows98" hit an F8 on your keyboard this should bring up a menu and one of the choices will be safe mode
if you do not see "Starting Windows98" because your computer boots too fast or the splash screen keeps you from seeing it then as is is going through the boot up process just keep hitting the F8 and you should be able to time it correctly to get to the menu.
