I am getting dsl service next thursday, but need to buy a cable modem, cause I refused to pay $200 for their modem. Any suggestions cheap and compatable with linux,beos ect. I have a 3com 10/100 nic laying around here somewhere. So external would work. USB? any good Seen some cheap ones on ebay but have no idea which brands to avoid. Also seen the compaq 56k/dsl combo card, which kinda frightens me. combo=suck, compaq=avoid proprietary hardware. Just want to order something that will work without pulling all my hair out in the process. I am thinking usb would be the easiest setup considering I may wan't to share this connection and use my nic to do that. But are the usb modems compatable with linux/beos. Sorry just rambling.
