Rumor 1:
From what I've heard, the Chinese pilots fired (or at least tried to fire) at the US airplane.

Rumor 2:
Most probably, he got killed because he was underneath the EP3 and tried to accelerate in front, rise up so his exhaust was right at the EP3's windshield, and fire the afterburner.

True fact 1:
The fighter pilot that got killed was a major Tom Cruise wannabe hotshot. The week before the incident, he was photographed at close range by another EP3 holding up a piece of paper with his email address on it.
