My Win98SE recently wouldn't boot and booting from floppy showed that the FAT was messed up. The weird thing is that WINDOWS was called WINDOGS, CONFIG.SYS was called CONFIG.SIS, and AUTOEXEC was called AETOEHEC. This sounds too strange to be a hardware or Windows problem, but no virus scanner found a known virus. I also have an NT (NTFS) partition and this is still OK.
After reformatting and re-installing it looks OK (up til now).
Any ideas ???
