out of the casing, you should be ok.

Shrinking of the screen usually means a leaky capacitor on the power circuit board or else a bad signal cable. Do you have a ferrite around the cable (this big magnet right next to the data plug)? if not, shrinking can also be induced by electromagentic interference with other devices.

If, in addition, you lose one or two color channels, it is a bad cable, if not, it is the power board that is on its way out. Could also be dust that shorts the cap to ground.
