Chris -

A+ credentials are excellent if you don't have other credentials or work experience. You need to try to bolster your resume with industry-recognized credentials that will allow you to get your foot in the door and begin building hands on experience.

I'd recommend looking at the CompTIA suite of certifications - A+, Server+, Network+, Internet+ as a good first step, sort of like doing your homework. Attaining these credentials should catch employers eyes, and make them more likely to overlook a lack of hands on experience.

Of course, the MCSE credentials are hotter, and carry more weight - so long as your potential employer is running a Microsoft network, and not Linux or NetWare.
