Hi, I'm going to buy parts for my next computer in about a week and I need some advise, regarding my anticipated choices and exsisting hardware (for conflicts, etc...)

So far I think i'm going with:
-AMD t-bird 1,000 socketA
-asus A7M-266 (yes DDR ram compliant)
-128 MB, PC-1600 DDR ram
-Tekram DC-390U2W scsi UW2 lvd controller card

I already have (salvaged from my current k6-2 450)
-Ati Radeon 32mb DDR agp4x, video
-Aureal 8830 vortex2 pci, sound
-panasonic 8r/4rw eide burner
-memorex 32x reader
-Seagate Barricuda, 9.1 GB UW2-scsi LVD
-Seagate Medalist-Pro 6.4 GB IDE drive (slow)
-Viewsonic 17" a70 monitor

Anyway, are my choices of new cpu, board, and the 'new fangled' ddr ram, ok as for compatibility with my existing hardware. Also is DDR ram worth it (performance wise) or should I consider saving the $150 premium req, for the ddr compatable board and ram and just forget about it.

any help or advise would be appreciated,

thank you
Ben
