There should have been a current limiter in the HD
TV stick to prevent anything like this from
happening. Moreover, a typical power source needs to
supply more than what the target device needs,
otherwise you get power starvation on the back end.
Just think of it this way, the typical outlet is on
an 8 or 16A fuse, that is 900 or 1800W but you can
plug in a computer that draws less than that.
