What brand is the drive? Manufacturers often have a utility on their website that will allow you to set up a raw disk or manipulate existing disks. For example, Seagate offers DiskWizard, although the older, bootable CD version has to be obtained from third-party sites since Seagate no longer hosts it. Since Seagate has to license some of the core software under limited terms, DiskWizard will only run on systems that contain at least one Seagate disk.
