USB cord, maybe bad.....something was shorting it it appears....replace...check USB female receptor for possible metal debris...
last option is to power down, remove power cord, then remove the battery and let her sit over night, check your manual for a possible 'clear bios' sequence (long shot......
then the solution if all else fails:
PCMIA card to the rescue for internet...
