what does the control panel/device manager look like? Does it list the AD audio as "unknown device"? If so, right click/ properties/uninstall etc. and then reinstall the drivers from scratch. Alternatively "disable in this hardware configuration" and then "enable" again. It could be something as simple as an IRQ conflict, hard to say without knowing more particulars about that system.
