Some help you guys are. You failed to tell me that the computer will act funny if there is a gray Persian rug draped over the heat pipe fins.
So, I tried running memtest just to make sure the memory was functioning properly. The computer kept shutting off during the test. I decided to take it apart and made the discovery. Feeling confident I had found the source of the trouble. I cleaned it, put it back together. Now I hit the power and no post 
The thermal compound between the heat sink was not looking good. I replaced it with some arctic silver, same for the video card.
I pulled all the major components and checked their connections. Tried to reset the bios...heh I have yet to find the jumper. I started removing screws, for an hour, and I was still unable to get the thing apart...started looking like I had to remove the display to get at more screws...gave up and put it back together...still no post.
Any suggestions?
