No.......I'm afraid it is formatted and FORMAT is grayed out anyway in the right click menu.

It's SATA and has WinXP installed on it. Does the fact that it's got a WinXP MBR and I'm booting to an IDE drive that also has a WinXP MBR have any influence on this?
