Starting to put together the new system for my wife after the lightning strike.

I have a new IDE hdd on the shelf and the SATA drive that was in her old box that turns out to have survived the lightning strike just fine.

Can I use the new IDE drive as a primary system drive for loading windows and her programs, and the SATA drive as a data drive in the same computer?

Something in the back of my mind is telling me this won't work.....perhaps because you have to select one or the other in the bios...???

This is just an office computer for light duty MS Word and Quicken. Some photo editing etc. but basically this system is not pressed into high performance.

Thanks,
BH
