Start in your BIOS and make sure that the CD-ROM drive is the first option. Then boot from your XP Pro disc -- but keep in mind it may take a couple minutes to finish loading storage system drivers before you get to a screen where you can actually do anything.

Once you are at that scren, then select the "Repair" option by pressing 'R'. XPSetup will search the hard disk for an existing installation, then ask you to confirm if it has located the correct one. Accept, and let it do its thing. It will tell you to reboot when all is done, at which point you need to remove the CD and reboot.

If Windows successfully boots at that point, you have a working system again. If your Windows XP disc was Service Pack 1 or earlier, you may need to reinstall Service Pack 2 again.
