Is it a FAT32 or NTFS File system on it?
XP works better with an NFTS.It tends to be wobbly with FAT32.A partition of that size would also be using 48bitLBA and i doubt it would like FAT32 type partitioning /formatting.
I have only gone as big as a 200gig HD so far,so no idea on how larger disks hack the larger partitions.Personally i break large disks down to smaller partitions rather than have one large one.
There's safety in numbers when it comes to large disks and partitions. It hasn't happened for a while now but i used to lose one or two of my partitions every now and then on my 200gig drive. At least when i did that was all i lost ;a partition or two,not the whole lot. That's the danger of one big partition,if it stuffs up the whole lot stuffs up.
