Is it 98 full ;SE upgrade ;XP upgrade?
IN the system bios "Boot Order" Try "1st device CD rom" Most disks[cd] will install a disk drive driver at detection and boot of the disc.
{this might be what you're trying to remember}
You should be able to get the XP upgrade to work if you have the origonal 98 disk.XP will prompt you to verify that you have the origonal 98 disk by inserting it ;if you start off with the XP disc Initially.Once verified; XP install will continue.
