I used to get "pcregisrtyfix",regdoctorpro,and a whole lot of similar type names popping up and telling me i needed to use them strait away "click here" "drivecleaner.com"[they,re all ".com"]
They used to sneak in when i did an install of W2k.
before i put in any Firewall.The easiest way to stop them was to go to "control panel" "administrative tools" "services" and set"messanger" to Manual.
That,s all "they"[remember them?] were doing ;sending in Auto pop up messages.
